When Christa approached me about doing a holiday photoshoot with her partner, I think I was more excited than she was! I was thrilled at the opportunity to do a same-sex couple photoshoot. Love is beautiful and I was ecstatic to capture theirs. They wanted a few photos for their Christmas cards to send to family/friends, and the rest to display in their home.

We met in beautiful Sackets Harbor, which is a few miles outside of Fort Drum and Watertown. We expect cold here in the north country but we were not prepared for this chilly morning. Despite the cold, both Christa and Laura had this ease about them. Both of these beautiful women were always smiling and seemed relaxed, which made photographing their little family very easy and fun.

And let's talk about my favorite member of their family, Tootsi!!! Tootsi is a mini dachshund who was loving the outdoors. She would briefly stop for a quick pose and then run off to do her own thing. Isn't she adorable??

Tootsi found a stick to enjoy while her mommies shared a moment! :)

Laura knew exactly how to make Christa smile! She kept the jokes coming, and had us all laughing throughout the session. It made it easy for me to capture the girls' natural smiles. Shots like these are at the top of My Favorites list!!

Just when things started to get very cold, we had a blanket close by to warm things up! Even Tootsi snuggled in to steal some kisses!!

Christa and Laura are big sports fans, so it was only fitting that we incorporated their love for sports in our shoot! They each represented their favorite teams; Laura rocked the Syracuse Orange while Christa stayed true to her home state Iowa Hawkeyes. I loved this! After all, these photos are for Christa and Laura, so what a fun way to really personalize them!

Christa and Laura (and Tootsi) were a pleasure to photograph! We finished the session in time for them to catch the football game over lunch. And look how lovely their Christmas cards turned out! I can't wait for their family and friends to enjoy them.
