A quinceañera is a 15th birthday celebration and rite of passage into womanhood for Hispanic girls. This event is a monumental time not only for the teen but also for her parents. I have had the privilege of photographing Araceli's Quinceañera :) Areceli's birthday celebration began with a mass at a catholic church. She was escorted into the church by her traditional Court of Honor, made up of her closest friends, brothers and cousins.
After the church ceremony and a few birthday wishes, Araceli and her Court hopped on her party bus! And of course, no parents were allowed on the bus!!!! However, I got a special invite to ride on the bus...Oh, the perks of the job:)!
As soon as the bus started moving so did the music...and the party was on!!! The young kids and teens sang, danced, and laughed all the way to the reception hall! The boys were in the back being oh so cool, while the girls took selfies and snap chatted!!! There was plenty of silliness to go around. I had so much fun capturing it all!!
At the reception, the emotional ceremony "switching of the shoes" and father and daughter dance, left many with weeping eyes and warmed hearts. The was truly an event filled with tradition, family, and fun!
Here are some of my favorites photos.
