There's something about that moment when your Soldier comes home; the moment when you know all of your biggest worries, concerns, and fears will disappear with just one kiss, one hug, one smile!
Julia contacted me only a couple of days before Aaron, her husband, was coming home. She was thrilled that I was available, and I, too, was excited to be able to capture her and Aaron's reconnection. Julia was one month pregnant when Aaron deployed nine months ago. So, even more rewarding was being a part of the moment when daddy Aaron met his one-month old daughter for the very first time! I know!! Heart Emoji's all the way!!
I can't even attempt to describe the anticipation, excitement, and nervousness that I could sense during this joyful moment. People were sitting, standing, pacing...repeat! Children were running and bouncing from one foot to the other! The room was filled with countless mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, husbands, and wives. All were harboring similar bottled up excitement, ready to ignite at any moment. The overwhelming feeling at that instant was indescribable!
It was a precious moment to witness; Aaron hold his sweet baby girl in his arms for the first time! As he gazed into her eyes, I saw Julia look at both of them with such love and adoration It was as if her heart had grown complete; and all three were at once in love!
Military families are some of the strongest families I know! Moments such as these remind us of the sacrifice not only the Soldier's make, but also their loved ones. I often wonder, if it's moments such as these that make the sacrifice worth while.
There's something about that moment when your Soldier comes home; the moment when your eyes meet again, your hearts beat to the same rhythm again and your world once again is complete!
Welcome Home Aaron! Welcome home Soldiers of 10th MTN Division, Ft. Drum, NY!
