Amber and Marlene | Military Homecoming Ceremony | Fort Polk, LA
"I'm too nervous to wait, I'm driving to base now!" is the text message I got from Marlene telling me that she is heading towards base, 30 minutes earlier than the time we agreed to leave.
It was almost a year ago when Marlene had to leave Fort Drum for captain career course and Amber for a deployment to Germany, all the while not knowing if Marlene would get re-stationed at Fort Drum after her course. But, as may favorite quote goes
"When you want something ALL the universe
conspires in helping you to achieve it!"
And here they are, with everything working out as planned.
Marlene smiled through her nerves as she shifted in her seat, then stood up to just sit back down. Nervous energy is so easy to find at homecoming ceremonies while waiting for the soldiers to arrive. And once they do, and the speaker says, "families go hug your soldier!" the nervous energy explodes into excitement, happiness and pure joy!
It was so heartwarming to watch Marlene and Amber come together as one heart again in the same location. Amber's smiles and Marlene's tears say it all! Military Homecoming are so dear and near to my heart; plus you leave feeling all happy and your heart mushy with love! <3
